The Department of Health Science, College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position in health education and promotion with a focus on epidemiology and/or biostatistics. The successful candidate will assume responsibilities that will include maintaining a productive research agenda, supporting faculty colleagues and graduate students in research, advising and mentoring of graduate students, teaching courses at the undergraduate or graduate level, professional service, and participation on dissertation committees. The department offers a bachelor’s degree in public health, a master’s degree in health studies, and a doctoral degree in health education and health promotion. The department plans to implement an MPH in health education and promotion during the fall, 2018 semester.
Qualified candidates for this position are expected to have a completed doctoral degree in epidemiology or biostatistics or a related field, and demonstrated ability to maintain a focused public health-related research agenda characterized by externally funded projects and peer-reviewed publications. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching. While not required, possessing an MPH degree and/or academic or professional experience in public health is preferred for candidates for this position.
