The Department of Health Science, College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama is seeking applicants for a tenure-track associate professor position in health education and promotion. The department offers bachelor’s degrees in public health, a master’s degree in health studies, and a doctoral degree in health education and health promotion. The department is also in the process of developing an MPH in health education and promotion.
Qualified candidates for this position are expected to have a completed doctoral degree in health education or health promotion, demonstrated ability to maintain a research agenda focused on addictions and substance abuse prevention that will result in external funding and peer-reviewed
publications, and clear potential for excellence in teaching. While not required, an MPH and/or academic or professional experience in public health and CHES/MCHES eligibility are preferred for candidates for this position.
The successful candidate will assume responsibilities that will include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, maintenance of a productive research agenda, department/college/university and professional service, advising and mentoring of students, and participation on dissertation committees.
