Georgia College is the state designated public liberal arts university. We are a nationally preeminent public liberal arts university where a practical education meets life-altering, real-world experiences. Public Health is housed in the College of Health Sciences in the School of Health & Human Performance. The School of Health and Human Performance services students who major in Public Health (BS); and Exercise Science (BS). We also have three master’s programs: (1) MS with a concentration in Health Promotion or Human Performance; a (2) Master of Arts in Teaching – Health and Physical Education; and a MS in Athletic Training beginning Summer 2018. We also house multiple minors in Public Health; Physical Education; Outdoor Education; and Global Health Studies.
The person filling this position will:
1. Teach courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs: e.g., Community Health; Medical Terminology; Epidemiology; Methods of Health Promotion; Introduction to Public Health; Substance Use and Abuse; etc.
2. Assist the coordinator and other health faculty with seeking accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for the BS Public Health;
3. Engage in scholarship and community service appropriate to the discipline;
4. Serve on school, college, and university committees as assigned.
All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non‐majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.
Candidate must provide excellence in teaching to all students enrolled in courses assigned to instruct. Candidate must be willing and motivated to mentor students and involve them in research activities and community service initiatives within Public Health. Candidate must also demonstrate a passion for his/her profession and possess a record of sustained professional service in their areas of expertise. Must be able to work productively, collaboratively and collegially with all faculty and staff within the School of Health & Human Performance.
