POSITION: Full-time tenure track position in Community Health and Health Promotion at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

RESPONSIBILITIES: SUNY Cortland tenure track faculty are responsible for contributing to an academic community dedicated to diverse learning experiences. This is accomplished through outstanding teaching, research and/or scholarship, service to the department and college, and by providing academic advisement and mentoring to our students. Faculty are expected to maintain a routine presence on campus to support our Campus Values of Focusing on the Students, Integrity, and Intellectual Life and serve our Campus Priorities of Academic Excellence, Transformational Education, Well-being, and the Maximization of Resources. This assistant/associate professor position will be responsible for instruction of undergraduate and master’s level health majors in community and public health. Priority areas of instruction are community health, program planning and methods, public health statistics, assessment and evaluation. Other areas will depend on individual expertise and could include coursework in nutrition, health communication, and health promotion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completed master’s degree and coursework toward a doctoral degree; professional preparation and/or experience in public/community health; candidate must have completed or be required to complete an independent research-based doctoral dissertation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D or Dr.PH in public/community health from a regionally accredited college or university. MPH, CHES. Experience teaching at the college level. Experience with designing and delivering on-line programs and courses.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Health Department has approximately 175 undergraduate students and approximately 100 master’s degree students in community health, school health education, and human service studies programs. The Department also provides required courses for a number of degree programs across the college. The successful candidate will be joining a department of 14 full-time faculty members.
