The Department of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation Management (HESRM) at The University of Mississippi is seeking applications for two 9-month, tenure-track, assistant professor positions. We encourage applications from candidates with strong research/scholarly publication records, research grant procurement, and academic achievement. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Public Health areas such as Health Disparities, Environmental Health, Rural Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy, and/or Social Determinants of Health. Chosen applicants are expected to begin August 2020 and appointments will include research, teaching, and service.

The Department of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation Management (our website) is home to 18 faculty and 3 staff members and over 900 students from around the world. HESRM currently offers two undergraduate programs (Exercise Science and Sports and Recreation Administration), three masters degrees (Health Promotion, Exercise Science, and Sports and Recreation Administration) and a doctoral program in Health and Kinesiology with three emphasis areas (Health Behavior and Promotion, Exercise Science, and Sport and Recreation). The Department also offers an Analytics cognate option for the doctoral program. The Analytics cognate provides rigorous training in measurement and statistical methods to analyze and evaluate data in all three emphasis areas. The Department is housed within the School of Applied Sciences (our website) in Oxford, MS.
Position Details Appointment: 9 Month Assignment
Type: Tenure Track
• Doctoral Degree in Public Health and Health related field by the time of employment.
• Evidence of a strong research agenda in health and potential for securing competitive, extramural research funding.
• A strong preference to someone holding a MPH degree
• Evidence of successful community engagement including the ability to develop and maintain partnerships with relevant health agencies.
• Previous experience with program accreditation (CEPH) • Evidence of successful technology integration in course delivery
• CHES or CPH certification
